Houghton sit at the top of Durham/Northumberland Division Three after making it three wins out of three on Saturday.

Graeme Bennett’s brace of tries helped set up a 24-12 victory over Prudhoe and Stocksfield at Dairy Lane.

Dan Jones and Mark Douglass also touched down, with Dan Bearn kicking two conversions as Houghton secured their third five-point win of the campaign.

James Ross was voted man of the match by sponsor Richard Lydiatt.

Houghton’s second team, the Boars, proved too strong for Blyth seconds in a 53-0 romp.

Star man Gary Spoors grabbed a hat-trick of tries, with Danny Wolfe scoring twice.

Darren Schofield, Ross McGorman, Daniel Large and Jack Sneezham also touched down.

In Division One, Durham City lost 17-7 away to Barnard Castle, their first defeat after four successive victories.
