SUNDERLAND Under-13s showed no mercy in a 64-0 demolition of Yarm to cruise through to the Durham County Plate semi-finals.

The Ashbreooke side, with Adam Armstrong back from a lengthy injury lay-off, produced some good early breaks from Reece Thompson, with Farai Chickumbrike offloading to Fletcher Jackson, who scored the opening, unconverted try.

Sunderland doubled their lead after another great solo run from Chickumbrike, which was converted by Ben Hutchinson. A superb move saw James Usher release Jackson to score under the posts for a 19-0 lead, with Hutchinson converting.

Sunderland were relentless mood and a well-worked scrum saw the ball sent out by Hutchinson, who offloaded to Usher to score. Hutchinson then scored a great try after a long chase saw him touch down and convert.

The second half started with a strong Sunderland scrum. Matthew Sanderson recieved the ball and made it over the line after a good surge.

The lads extended their lead after a perfectly timed pass along the line from Hutchinson to Dean Edmundson, who ran through to score. Hutchinson’s conversion made it 45-0. From the kick-off, Jackson collected the ball and made a brilliant run to claim his hat-trick.

The lads kept going and, with good determination from Thompson, added another score, with Hutchinson converting.

Chickumbrike picked up a loose ball to score the final try, again converted by Hutchinson.
