Houghton targeting final flourish

HOUGHTON go into the last weekend of fixtures, aiming for two victories.

Houghton firsts host Washington in Durham and Northumberland Division Three at Dairy Lane on Saturday, hoping to finish their season on a high after suffering a loss against South Tyneside College last weekend.

Manager Chris Simpson fields one of his strongest teams of the season on Saturday.

Houghton Boars, who looked liked running away with the league in their first season early in the campaign, have struggled in recent weeks, but, after a hard-fought victory against Yorkshire club Otley last week, are hoping to finish the season in style.

The Boars travel to Ashington, where victory will see them finish in a respectable position and ready for further progress next season.
