SUNDERLAND Under-13s produced a superb performance in routing Ryton 47-24., inspired by hat-tricks from Fletcher Jackson and Farai Chikumbrike.
Ryton drew first blood when some good passing down the line led to a converted try, and they looked set to strike again until Chikumbrike stepped in with a superb, last-ditch tackle.
Chickumbrike touched down for Sunderland’s first try, converted by Ben Hutchinson, after a great exchange of play between Louis Deathe, Hutchinson and Dean Edmundson.
Soon after, Sunderland got the ball to Jackson, who raced away to score, with Hutchinson’s conversion putting the visitors 14-7 up.
Good defending by Bradley Lindsay helped set Chikumbrike away, and his pace brought a third Sunderland try, again converted by Hutchinson.
Ryton responded with two unconverted tries, but big tackles by Brad Wall, Devrim Koca, James Usher and Kye Horn kept them at bay and Jackson got a hand on the loose ball to score Sunderland’s fourth try, just before the ball went dead, for a 26-19 lead.
Ryton hit back again, but Jackson completed his hat-trick, running unchallenged from halfway, with Hutchinson converting for a 33-24 advantage.
Chikumbrike sealed his own hat-trcik after swift exchanges between Edmundson and Jackson, with Hutchinson making it 40-24.
Sunderland broke immediately from the restart for Edmundson to touch down between the posts, with Hutchinson completing the scoring.
