SUNDERLAND Flames produced a lacklustre performance, allowing table-toppers Ormskirk to cruise to a 36-0 win in the Women’s National Challenge North One.
Flames’ defence initially held firm and the game remained a stalemate for the first quarter.
However, Ormskirk eventually created the overlap to take them over the line for the opener. The visitors continued to demonstrate the reasons why they are top of the table with some strong play.
Sunderland’s scrums started strongly, but lost momentum as time went on. The Lancashire visitors created a series of overlaps and secured a three-try lead, going into half-time.
Chances were few and far between in the second half and Ormskirk countered brilliantly, particularly via their dangerous full-back as they finished comfortable winners.
Sunderland will look to do better in this weekend’s trip to face Chester Devas.
