HOUGHTON firsts will head to Durham and Northumberland Division Three leaders Hartlepool BBOB in good spirits on Saturday.
The Dairy Lane men came out on top in a hard-fought contest with South Tyneside College last week, edging home 13-12.
Mark Douglass was again on hand to score Houghton’s try, with a late penalty from the returning Andrew Charlton sealing the victory, which took them back up to third place in the table.
Houghton will have a strong squad available for the difficult test at the table-toppers, who have won all 11 league matches this term.
Houghton Boars return to league action at home to Seghill this weekend after having their County Cup match being called off at Hartlepool due to frozen pitch.
Boars lost their first match of the season against Seghill, but, for the return showdown, they welcome back Andy Morrell, Richard Lydiatt, Steve Winlow, who missed the last game against the Northumberland side.
The Boars will field a mixture of youth and experience and are determined to avenge the defeat three weeks ago.
After this weekend, the club are not back in action until January 5.
