SEAHAM’S new under-13 side will play their first game against Houghton at Seaham Leisure Centre next Saturday.
Senior players John Dixon, Jack McCallum and Chris Bland have established links Seaham School of Technology.
And together with Community Rugby Coach Laura Coleman, and members of the Durham County RFU Rugby Development Office, they have made tremendous progress in unearthing some raw local talent.
They are moulding the team into a successful outfit, which already has an inter-school tournament win under its belt.
Having forged links with the senior Seaham RUFC side, the players have been training hard and now hope to get regular fixtures.
Their first game representing Seaham is a week today at noon.
This precedes the local derby between Seaham and Houghton senior sides at 2.15pm. Spectators are welcome.
The club is hoping to attract new players of all ages to join their junior rugby section.
They would also welcome the support of parents and guardians to assist in all aspects of running the game.
Training sessions take place each Sunday morning at Seaham Leisure Centre from 10.30am.
Anyone wishing to take part can attend – bring boots and appropriate clothing, and speak to John Dixon.
