Crumbie was named as Boldon boss last summer after former club Harton and Westoe folded, and by his own admission has overseen a season of “ups and downs”.

There have been some notable results and performances throughout his first season in charge including a 1-0 win against South Tyneside neighbours Hebburn Town Reserves and a 7-1 win against former Northern League club Darlington RA in the semi-final of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup.

But there have been a series of underwhelming performances as Boldon saw their chances of securing a securing a top eight finish ended by some poor results.

However, Crumbie believes that there is a buzz around the club after they reached a cup final and won six of their last eight games in all competitions.

He told The Gazette: “My first season at Boldon has had a lot of ups and downs.

“I always knew it was going to be hard keeping the Boldon players I wanted and integrating the lads from my Harton and Westoe squad when I took over.

“When you add into the mix a number of new players, it was going to be hard to get that all to gel.

“We had a lot of unrest in the first few weeks of the season and that showed in our results.

“But I had things off the pitch that I wanted to get right, so I looked at this as a long-term project.

“The club has so much potential it’s crazy and I want to be the man to achieve success at this club along with my coaching team.

“I spoke with them about how we could turn the mood around over Christmas and it seems that we have a buzz around the club since the turn of the year.

“We have got to a cup final and we have found some consistency.

“Now we have to build on that.”
