WHITBURN turned in an excellent 5-0 win against Woodside A to take an early lead at the top of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League table.
The Avenue had a 4-1 win against Pennywell Comrades B, with Gary Moore leading from the front.
Mill View B took on Steels with Norman Brown taking the first against Chris Cowle while Carl Davis fought back to win 48-36 against Ray Charlton.
Adam Smith beat John Spruce. Steve Chandler, Mill View’s man of the moment, took the fourth. Adam Smith and McLaren took the pairs.
Darren Dowell was the early leader as Mill View reduced the deficit. John Spruce had a 23 clearance to pinch the frame 51-50.
Green Baize suffered a 4-1 defeat against Washington Snooker A.
Trevor Herbert, Martin Bell and Graham Rutland took the first three frames before Jeff Burn took the fourth but lost the pairs with Craig Kane.
Martin Bell had breaks of 30 and 32 to create a winning position.
Pennywell Comrades A beat Mill View A 3-2, taking the first three frames before Adam Burnell replied in the fourth.
Peter Davies and Kevin Alderson won the pairs.
A good game was seen between Farringdon A and Hylton A with Norman Leslie beating Ryan McKenna in the first.
Tom Feenan responded with a 37 break to level.
Kevin Harrop beat Michael McLoughlin in the third. Ian Stewart made it all square.

The Second Division is dominated by Washington Snooker B and Cheema C.
However, Glendale are climbing the table and two wins last week saw them retain their unbeaten run and move up to fourth place. Against Murton Officials they won 4-1.
Biddick B beat Farringdon B 4-1, with Michael Simpson, Peter Mills, John Temple and Alex Lowins taking all the singles before D Robinson and Colin Wrathmall responded by winning the pairs.
Gary Bell, Ritchie Tiffin and Bill Shotton gave Washington B a 3-0 start against the Railway.
Bob Nelson beat Alex Hannan, who gained revenge as he twinned with Gary Bell in winning the pairs.
Kevin McDermott helped Pennywell Comrades C beat Washington Union before Peter Stafford responded.
Ian McDermott and George Clark took their team into a 3-1 lead before Bulch and Lyons took the pairs for the Union.
Paul Kirsop had a 65 break against Washington C. Steven Thompson and Mark Farnsworth extended the lead.
Bryan Jeffreys pulled one back for Washington but lost in the pairs to Farnsworth and Thompson.
Seaham Cons lost 4-1 to Murton Vic.
Cheema B took three of the singles against The Victory, who took the pairs to restrict the defeat.
St Gabriel’s lost their first two games against Cheema A but fought back when Ken Rackstraw saw Steve Hagel win the next and then join to win the pairs.
