With three games remaining, the county team are in the thick of a promotion battle.
The big margin of victory did not seem likely after the first half of the contest, with the clash of the B teams ending 10-8 in the hosts’ favour.
A tight contest in the ladies match ended 4-2 to Tyne and Wear. Chris Shortland took the Lady of the Match award, coming back from losing the first leg to win 3-1.
There were also wins for Ann Oxberry, Jean Brown and Liz Scullion, with Edie Casey and Elaine Wakelam defeated.
The man of the match award in the men’s B team clash went to John Kippen Jnr, who had moved down from the A side and strolled to a 3-0 win.
Neil Rose returned to the county scene after nearly three years away, but still eased to a 3-0 win.
Lee Rump also made the swap from the A to B team and he kept the momentum going with a comfortable 3-1 win, and Paul Johnson repeated the scoreline.
The visitors finally registered wins when Ian Harrison and John Nicholson both went down 3-0. Davey Thompson (3-2), Peter Duncan (3-1) and Tony Cummings (3-1) also lost as the slump continued.

The last game of the day saw Dean Kippen secure a draw as he won 3-2, aided by a 180 in the decider.
The Ladies A team then showed why they sit in second place in their section with an excellent performance, winning 5-1 to make the overall scoreline 15-9.
Maureen Purvis took the Lady of the Match performance with a 3-0 win, and there were also victories for Christine Sims, Caroline Dorothy, Holly Cooper and Cheryl Roper, who clinched victory with an 82 checkout.
Jean Stanley was the ladies’ only loser.
It was wins almost all the way for the men’s A team. The county’s top man Andy Chalmers got things under way with a 4-0 win which maintained his winning streak which stretches back nearly three years.
Sunderland’s Paul Williams also maintained his 100 record for the season with a comfortable 4-1 win. Ryan Joyce put in a tremendous performance to take the man of the match award as he won 4-0 with winning legs of 19, 14, 12 and 21.

The only defeat came for seven-time Lakeside qualifier Davy Richardson – but it was the only blemish on a near faultless day for the home side.
