HOUGHTON will stage what could be a cracking Area 1 triples final on Wednesday.
Houghton’s Michael Wright, Pat Thomson and Peter Thomson take on Stanley’s John Thurlbeck (6.30pm).
The winners will next play the Area 2 winners from Cumbria.
The singles will be decided in a group stage play-off at Hartlepool, with David Bolt and Gary Smith already through to the final three on March 1.
The same day, the pairs group play-off sees Smith and Brett Arkley both through and one place still up for grabs.

* The first of the season’s national titles has been decided as Malvern Hill’s Ryan Atkins lifted the Under-25 singles. South Shields youngster James Sneller was beaten in the last 16. The ladies’ Under-25 title went to Wellingborough’s Chloe Wordingham.
* The World Indoor Championships saw Scotland’s Alex Marshall take the men’s singles title for a sixth time, beating England’s Andy Thomson 11-9, 10-3 in the final.
The ladies’ title went to Wales Laura Thomas, who defeated England’s Katherine Rednall 14-5, 9-9, while England’s Robert Paxton and Wales’ Marion Purcell took the mixed pairs crown, denying Paul Foster and Laura Thomas a third straight title.
Paxton had a good week, joining Simon Skelton to grab the pairs title for England, coming from behind to beat Foster and Marshall.
