THERE is no holding back Steels B in Division One of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League.
Whitburn held them to a 3-2 result, with Phil Freeman having a 35 break before Tom Feenan came back to win.
Adam Smith, who is having a consistent season, beat Jason Rodger in the second. Anthony Miller won the third, before Ernie Lunney of Whitburn beat Chris Cowie in the fourth. Neil McLaren had a 30 break in the pairs for Steels before White and Smith of Whitburn recovered to win 62-56.
Paul Kirsop gave Hylton an early lead before Ian Stewart levelled for Farringdon. Bob Boyce claimed the third before Kevin Harrop took Hylton into a 3-1 lead in the singles. Stewart and Wrathmall took the pairs 61-48 for Farringdon.
Dean Wilson took the first frame for Green Baize before Mark Bell of Washington levelled. Craig Kane and Peter Dambrosie took the next two for the Baize, before a 30 break by Bell was the deciding factor in Washington winning the pairs.
Woodside A continued their run of 3-2 results with their win against Mill View B. Andy Newby showed his battling spirit in the first frame against Gary Albett before Bill Milne levelled. Wayne Bowmaker took the third before John Spruce made the game all square in the fourth. Albett and Milne proved the stronger in winning the pairs for Woodside.
Pennywell B were made to suffer, as Woodside B had a 4-1 win at home with Dean Taylor taking the consolation for the Comrades.
Mill View A shared the first two frames at Seaham Knack, with Keith Johnston and Gary Dormand winning the frames. Kevin Alderson and Peter Davies took the Mill into a 3-1 advantage before Edwards and Dormand took the pairs for Seaham.
Steels A had a 4-1 win at the Clipper with Michael Sayers delighted with his result against Gary Moore in the first frame. Chris Henderson replied with a fine result against the consistent Tom Ayre before Steels took the match.
A fine performance by Hylton B saw them beat Pennywell Comrades A 4-1 that moved them up the table.
In the Second Division, the recent adjustment and the delayed matches being played, has seen Grindon take the top spot from Biddick A.
The Victory had a remarkable opening against Grindon with Ray James taking the first frame from Gary Burden. John Butler overcame a 30 break from Neil Brigham to emerge as the victor. Alan Mustard started a fight back followed by Jim Tutty, the recovery was completed as Mustard and Brigham took the pairs.
Seaham Cons had a 4-1 win against St Gabriel’s. They won all the singles before Rackstraw and Grimes rescued the pairs for St Gabriel’s.
The Duck continued their improvement with a 3-2 win at the Railway, who are now being threatened to hold their third place in the table.
Murton Officials beat Washington Union 5-0.
Biddick B against Cheemas did not start and will be played at a later date.
