Silksworth scupper Grindon’s title hopes

Have your say

SILKSWORTH Comrades put a spoke in Grindon’s quest for the D&P Trophy Sunderland title by claiming a draw.

Comrades won the first rink 13-1 but Grindon came back with a rampant second rink, winning 22-2.

It was all down to last rinks for both teams, and Comrades came out on top by winning 9-6.

Had Comrades not lost out so tamely in the second rink, the result could have been a lot worse for Grindon.

Town End Farm’s pursuit of the title continued with a fine 8-0 home win over Grangetown.

The result did not reflect the whole match as TEF were made to fight all the way.

They now lead Grindon by one point, with both teams having played the same amount of games.

St Leonards’ revival continued with a fine 8-0 home win over Mitchells, while Farringdon recorded an 8-0 home win over Steels.

Plains Farm won 6-2 at home to Hetton. But for a recent bad patch, Plainsy could have been doing more than consolidating their place as third in the league.

Leaders’ remaining games:

Grindon: Farringdon (H), Plains Farm (A) St Leonards(H)

Town End Farm: Mitchells (A), Silksworth Comrades (H), Steels (A)
