Price is right with second win of Knack season

MARTIN Price won only his second game of the season with an excellent 5-1 win over John ‘Squizzy’ Squires.

Price (right) won the first leg in 18 darts with a wonderful 161 checkout and also won in 17 and 21 darts to complete a fine win.

Sunderland star Paul Williams produced yet another top drawer performance with a 31.10 per dart average to win 5-1 against Mark Robinson.

Willams lost the first leg as ‘Robbo’ took out a 112 checkout in 18 darts before Williams won the next five legs in 15,15,15,17 and 16 darts with three 180s and a 120 finish.

Alan Smith was a surprise winner against Eddie Ashman with 18 and 21-dart legs, giving Smith the three points as Smith’s revival continued.

Graham Mullen stayed fourth after a 5-2 win against Neil Rose. Mullen took out a superb 127 finish on the bull to win the first leg and despite Rose hitting three maximums, it was Mullen who grabbed the win with winning legs in 18,20,17,22 and 17 darts including a 180 with Rose’s two legs in 20 and 19 darts.

Kevin Guy fought off a spirited performance by Phil Dunn with Guy coming out on top 5-2 with winning legs in 22,18,21,24 and 20 darts while Dunn replied in 20 and 17.

Jimmy Ashett hit his 18th 180 of the season as he stayed second with a 5-2 win against Steve Skinner. Ashett hit 16 ton plus scores in best legs of 16,19,20 and 15 darts which included a 111 checkout.

Neil Richardson was a 5-2 winner against Anthony Gale with Richardson coming back from 2-0 down to reel off the next five legs to take the win.

Spiller Henderson’s impressive season continues with an excellent point against Tyne and Wear County A Team player Davey Thompson with Spiller hitting 18 ton-plus scores including a 114 checkout and best legs of 15,18 and 21 darts while Davey’s best were 19 (twice) and 20 darts.

John Redpath and Anth Skelton also shared the points which didn’t really help either player’s chances of a top eight place with two 19 darters by Anth the highlights.

Ray Malarkey and Barry Rutherford were two more players who couldn’t be separated with Ray blowing a 4-2 lead as Barry came back to snatch a point.
