Plains Farm’s win keeps up the pressure

Plains Farm edged out title-favourites Grindon with a fine 6-2 win.

Farm won the first two rinks comfortably, but in the last rink, skipped by O.Gray, Grindon fought back to secure two points and ensuring the title will go all the way to the end of the season.

Town End Farm won 7-1 at home against Hetton.

In the first rink, the match was evenly matched with the first end tied.

Going into the last end, Town End Farm were leading 4-3 after Hetton skip M.Wison, bowled his last wood to claim the end and take it to a draw.

The other rinks were easily won by Farm, which keeps their title hopes alive.

Mitchells recorded a great 7-1 away win at St Leonard’s.

Farringdon won 6-2 away at Pallion.

Farringdon won the first rink, but Pallion came back to win the second before Farringdon’s S.Wison had other ideas and went on to secure the points to give them the win.

In the last 16 of the singles competition, M.Laydon (PF) had it easy against H.High (Hetton) to progress to quarter final after a 20-6 win.

T.Harem (Grindon) comfortably beat J.Sergeant 17-7.

In the quarter final of the singles competitions, reigning champion M.Campbell (PF) was made to fight all the way in his encounter with G.Williams (TEF).

Glen raced into a 10-4 lead and was one wood away from going 13-4 up, but Martin clawed his way back to lead 12-10, going into last end.

Glen needed two shots, but only managed to draw one shot and let Campbell off the hook, with the score ending 12-11 to Campbell.

In the pairs competition, P.Shergold/D.McCabe (St Leonard’s) won 12-10 against Grindon’s pair of T.Harem/K.Hutchenson.

R.Williams/G.Gibson (TEF) were made to fight all the way to reach the quarter final with a 12-11 win over A.Devlin/J.Devlin.

K.Wheatley/B.Smith (Grindon) ran out 15-10 winners against M.Campbell/P.Boyce (PF).

In the pairs quarter final, R.Williams/G.Gibson (TEF) won 15-7 against H.High/C.High (Hetton).

The fours quarter final saw T.Harem/K.Wheathley/J.McKenna/K.Hutchenson (Grindon) dismantle St Leonard’s fours, of P.Shergold/R.Shergold/C.Young/B.Revell, 22-0.

L.Watt (SC) edged out B.Simpson (St Leonard’s) 13-12 in the ladies last 16 singles.
