IN a thriller that was far closer than its 5-2 scoreline suggested, Marco Laybourn just edged Sue Edwards.

Edwards initially led, but Layborn’s strong and consistent finishing turned the tide, with legs in 15, 18 and 20 darts, plus a trio of stunning finishes.

Chris Jarvis got back to winning ways with a tight 5-3 victory over Vince Lorraine. Lorraine took legs in 20 darts twice, with Jarvis powering home with legs in 15, 16 and 18 darts.

Andy King defeated Steve Richardson 5-1. King hit a 21-dart leg with the night’s top checkout of 160.

Chris Bolam excelled again with a 5-1 over Walter Scott. Scott’s only leg was a tremendous 14-darter checking out 78.

Bolam himself had a pair of 15-darters and another pair of 20 darters with quality finishes of 71 and 117.

Lafferty did hit a 180 during the match, but had no response to a red-hot Revely.

Colin Richardson survived a scare to come through 5-3 against Dawn Evans, who can consider herself unlucky not to come away with at least a point.

Dan Scott caused possibly the shock of the night beating potential title candiate Steve Carr 5-2.

Carr had a 21-darter and a checkout of 68, with Scott hitting a pair of 20-darters for the match.

Lee Rump stayed on top with a win against Tony Bryant, who hit a 180 despite coming out on the losing side.

Rump took home the points 5-2, taking out 79 and 80.

Gary Richardson again showed improvement, sharing the spoils with Anth Devine.

Darren Johnston hammered home the points for a tilt at promotion to the Premier League with a steady 5-1 win over George Slight.

Slight’s solitary leg came in 17 darts, with Johnston taking a leg in 20.

Jamie Scott held on for a nervy win against Tony Bryant in a see-saw match, the Red House youngster sealing a 5-3 win.
