Kat Driscoll wins to seal Olympic place

TRAMPOLINIST Kat Driscoll is going to the Olympics!

The 26-year-old from West Rainton passed her final test with flying colours in Liverpool last night.

She won the last British qualifying event to see off her rivals for Britain’s sole trampolining place at London 2012. Her place as Team GB’s representative has not been officially confirmed yet, but it is certain after yesterday’s triumph.

Driscoll earned Britain’s place at the Olympics when she finished seventh in the World Championships final last November, but that did not guarantee her the place.

But Driscoll, who trains at Washington Leisure Centre, is Britain’s star performer and will now look to battle for a medal against the best the world can offer this summer.

Britain has never won an Olympic medal in trampolining, but Driscoll is a genuine contender.
