Jason Allan swoops to end great Darren Johnston run

JASON Allan produced a shock win to end Darren Johnston’s unbeaten start to the season in Division One of the Thorney Close Darts Premier League.

Allan had 16 and 20-dart legs to claim a storming 5-3 success. Adam Lafferty moved to the top of the table thanks to a 5-0 drubbing of Tony Bryant, with a 20-darter and two legs in 21.

Dan Scott beat Danny Cullen 5-2, including legs of 20 and 21 darts, while Shaun Turnbull kept up his good form to defeat Neil Hardy 5-2. Dennis Cullen beat Jordan Cook by then same score, while Gary Richardson lost a scrappy match 5-3 to Jamie Scott.

In the Premier Division, Alan Slight had legs in 16 and 21 darts in a tight 4-4 draw with Steve Richardson, who grabbed a 180 and won legs in 20 and 21 darts.

Richardson also drew with Micky Callan, throwing away a 4-1 lead, before going down 5-3 to Micky Watson, who had four 21-darters. Richardson’s best was an impressive 17-dart leg.

Marco Laybourn overcame Jack Revely 5-1, with a 180 and a 20-darter, while Vince Lorraine enjoyed a 19-darter in a 5-2 success against Steve Carr.

Walter Scott won legs in 19, 20 and 21 darts (twice) in a 4-4 draw with Micky Brown, who had a 20-darter. Scott then outgunned Lorraine 5-1 in style, scoring a 180 and taking legs in 14 and 15 darts.

Lee Rump impressed in beating Ian Jarvis 5-3 in a very tight match. Rump won legs in 15, 17, 18, 19 and 21 darts, as well as posting a 180. Jarvis also had a maximum, winning legs in 15, 18 and 21 darts.
