Houghton’s Napier nails improvement

Houghton CC riders were again out in force at Croft Racing Circuit for round three of Velo29 Winter Series.

The first race was a 4th category race over eight laps, which had a field of over 70 riders, held in in very wintry conditions with wind and heavy rain.

Fred Napier rode his second event and finished 65 out of the field, improving his time from last week by five minutes.

Results – 4th Category Riders: 1 David Thomas (Cyclesense), 2 Ben Ward (EMC), 3 Adam McManus (Manilla Racing), 4 Andy Stoneman (Valley Striders CC), 5 Ian Cowen (Cleveland Wheelers), 6 Paul Brown (NRG/Godleys RT), 7 Josh Bennett (Crosstrax), 8 Stuart Cowperthwaite (Skipton CC), 9 Kevin Richardson (Richmond CC), 10 Bradley Tooze (Derwentside CC)

The second event was for the Elite/1st/2nd/3rd/4th category riders and there was over 60 riders, riding 15 laps, and Houghton CC rider Chris Ranson came in a respectable 19th.

Results: 1 Ryan Fenwick (3rd Category – The Racers), 2 Ben Hetherington (1st Category – Achieve-Skinnergate Racing), 3 Tim Allen (1st Category – Arrow Cycles), 4 Jack Rees (1st Category – Achieve-Skinnergate Racing), 5 Sean Noon (2nd Category – Edinburgh CC), 6 William Brown (1st Category Achieve-Skinnergate Racing), 7 Julian Pearson (1st Category – Team Hoppers Rollers), 8 David Thomas (4th Category - Cyclesense), 9 Peter Boyes (3rd Category TS Racing Team -Vankru), 10 Scott Arthur (2nd Category – Achieve-Skinnergate Racing).

This weekend sees the Velo 29 North East Trophy Race at Croft Racing Circuit.

The first event is a youth only race and the second event is an Elite/1/2/3/4/ category event over 50 miles (25 laps).
