Hat-tricks of medals all round

JACK Tallentire, Ashlyn Liddle, Callum Walker and Amy Dixon led the way with hat-tricks of medals for City of Sunderland at the BOSSS Winter Festival Meet at Billingham Forum.

It was an enjoyable and successful two-day competition for the Performance B and Age Group Development Squads, winning 24 medals between them.

Jack, 16, won gold in the 50m butterfly sprint and added two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke events, achieving personal best times in each.

Ashlyn, 15, finished second in the 100 I/M and also won two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke events.

Callum, 15, was first in the 50m breaststroke and won a pair of silver medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, while 12-year-old Amy won gold in the 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly and added a bronze medal to her collection from the 100m butterfly event.

Callum and Amy both set personal best times in each event.

Twelve-year-olds Adam Boxall and JJ Robins won a silver and bronze medal each. Adam won his silver in the 200m freestyle and was third in the 50m backstroke and set PBs in six events.

JJ finished second in the 200 I/M and was third in the 200m breaststroke.

Fourteen-year-old Tom Whelan was the other swimmer to come home with two medals, topping the podium in the 200m breaststroke and finishing third in the 200m freestyle in an improved time.

The remaining medals were won by Niamh Swailes, 9, (third in the 200m backstroke), Lara Greggs, 10, (second in the 100m breaststroke), Maria Birchall, 11, (third in the 50m freestyle), Joe Whelan, 11, (first in the 100m backstroke), Ben Hutchinson, 12, (third in the 100m butterfly) and Alex Spencer, 15, (first in the 200m butterfly).
