DURHAM County A had a mixed weekend with their ill-fated Muras Trophy double header at Heaton Hall in Manchester.
The opening game against Yorkshire did start, but, as the rain continued, the umpire decided the green was unfit for play.
Fortunately for Durham, as each rink had already played 12 ends, the score at the time of the abandonment stood, Durham winning 84-60 to collect 20 league points.
Out of the six rinks, Durham returned five winning cards, with only Darlington RA’s John Fielding’s rink going down 16-4.
The second planned fixture against Lancashire was obviously washed out, so July’s Middleton Cuip clash will also count for the Muras Trophy.
Durham start their Middleton Cup campaign this weekend, taking on Lincolnshire at neutral Kirbymoorside.
Silksworth’s Gary Farquhar, Ian Riches, Wayne Funnell, Phil Dixon, Billy Ferry, Scot Baker and Phil Smithson are all in the side.
