DEAN Wilson had breaks of 56 and 52 in sealing victory for Biddick A against Green Baize in the Westoe Removals Sunderland league.
Biddick had won the first two frames through Terry Froud and Dave Adamson, but Craig Kane won the third with a 34 break and Rod Turnbull then brought the scores level.
Wilson was in fine form during the doubles, though, to seal the win.
Farringdon A were stretched by Seaham Knack, winning 3-2 after winning the first two frames. Tom Feenan beat Gary Stockton 58-41 and Ryan McKenna won 67-27.
A response by Glen Edwards in the third saw him beat Mick McLoughlin 59-36 but a break of 39 by Ian Stewart sealed the win before Stockton and Edwards took the pairs for Seaham.
Woodside A enjoyed a surprise 5-0 win against Pennywell A. Martin Johnson led off with a 71-4 win the first followed by Billy Milne, Graham Albett, Chris Grimmer and Johnson and Bowmaker in the pairs.
Another good performance saw Hylton B beat Mill View A 5-0 in a match involving five very close frames. The pairs was won 49-47 by Steabler and Norton 49-47.
Whitburn visited Pennywell and claimed a 4-1 success. The singles all went to Whitburn before Taylor and Coffey claimed the pairs for Pennywell.
Mill View A were given a good start as Steve Chandler played solidly in beating Norman Leslie in the first before Kevin Harrop had a 29 break in the second.
Bob Boyce left Sid Bate bemused with breaks of 29 and 25 in winning the third before John Spruce levelled in the fourth. Leslie and Boyce dominated in winning the pairs.
Ritchie Milner had a 30 break in the pairs to claim a 3-2 result for Woodside B against Steels A.
The Avenue introduced Dave Stein and in his first game he had a 25 break in beating Mark Bell 67-60. Mark Fox had a tight game in beating Graham Rutland 54-46 as Avenue won 4-1 against Washington Snooker A.
There is a gap opening in Division Two with Cheema C and Washington B on 12 points and Murton Vic on 11.
Mark Farnsworth is flying and had a break of 34 in the singles and 78 in the pairs led to Cheema C beating Farringdon B 5-0 – although the result did not truly reflect the game.
Paul Grant was always leading before Anthony Miller took the last four colours to win 57-46.
Washington B had a comfortable result with a 4-1 win against Cheema A with Alex Hannah and Gary Bell taking the first two frames before Michael Wolfe gained the consolation in the third. Billy Shotton won 51-22 in the fourth and Hannah and Bell took the pairs.
Murton Officials are keeping in the hunt with a 4-1 win against Pennywell C, and have a game in hand. Ian McDermott had a 34 break in levelling after Michael Burnikell had narrowly lost 57-48 to Robin Midson.
Murton took the last three in fine style with Jim Ashcroft winning the singles and pairs.
Victory lost the first two frames against the Railway but took the next two in tight finishes before taking the overall 3-2 result in the pairs.
Glendale won their first match 3-2 against Biddick B, whose Peter Mills had a 29 in his singles.
Seaham Cons beat Washington Union 4-1 with only the pairs being competitive. Murton Vic took the first three frames before Cheema B recovered to take the last two.
H Clubs need to hand in knock-out sheets to the monthly meeting at the Avenue on Thursday. Suggested handicaps on the sheets would be helpful for consideration at the Handicap meeting.
