Wearside comfortably clinched a place in the Durham County Clubs Championship by finishing fifth in Saturday’s qualifier at Whickham.
Twelve qualification spots were up for grabs, and Ravensworth won the qualifier with a total of 217, inspired by Jordan Bettis’s six-under-par 65. Joe Fraser carded a 74 and Louis Fraser shot 78.
Consett were a second on 218, with South Moor third (227).
David Vest was the top man for Wearside, firing a two-over-par 73, supported by Howard Walton (78) and Stuart Nixon (79) as they totalled 230 in fifth place.
Whitburn finished ninth on 235 thanks to Gavin Harrison (74), Chris Hart (76) and Anthony Jaggers (85), with Ryton, Tyneside, Barnard Castle, Eaglescliffe, Bishop Auckland, Beamish Park and Billingham also making it through to the championship proper at South Moor on August 13.
Boldon (238) narrowly missed out in 14th place, with Houghton 18th (241), Chester-le-Street 20th (244) and Ramside Hall 21st (244).
