ROKER Marine’s Alice Curtis enjoyed double delight in the Sunderland Women’s Bowls Association’s competitions.
Curtis and Pat Wayman teamed up to win the ladies pairs title at Thompson Park, and she also took the singles title in dramatic fashion.
Curtis and Wayman defeated Barnes Park’s Doreen Kerrigan and Ann Callaghan 15-12 in a closely contested pairs final, having earlier edged past Silksworth’s Evelyn Barkes and Norma Stephenson 15-14.
Kerrighan and Callaghan saw off Ryhope’s A. Westray and P. Charlton 17-13 in their semi-final.
The singles final went to the last bowl as Curtis came back from 15-8 down against Thompson Park’s Anne Raine to win 21-20.
Curtis beat Ryhope’s P. Charlton 21-11 in her semi-final, while Raine knocked out Silksworth’s Evelyn Barkes 21-14.
The annual round robin triples will take place at Barnes Park on Tuesday at Barnes Park and will be played down to the quarter-finals. The latter stages will take place on Thursday.
