SUNDERLAND Broom firsts face a crucial home double header in their bid to beat the drop in the North League Division Two East this weekend.

Andy Gayner’s side succumbed to a 5-2 defeat at bottom club Leeds Adel Carnegie last weekend, and are now second bottom, only ahead of Leeds on goal difference.

Sunderland face a daunting home match against leaders Harrogate at Sandhill View on Saturday (2pm) and then entertain mid-table University of Leeds seconds on Sunday (2pm).

The Wearsiders have only six games left in which to preserve their status.

Broom seconds also have a double header in North East League Intermediate 1 – at home to Stockton thirds on Saturday (nopon) and away to bottom clin Newcastle Medics seconds on Sunday.

The Wearsiders are second bottom, two points clear of Medics.
