Ashman demolishes Redpath

EDDIE Ashman climbed to fifth place in the Seaham Knack Premier League after a resounding 5-1 success against Ryhope’s John “Boy” Redpath.

Ashman won five legs in fewer than 20 darts, 13 scores of 100 or more and a 180 to wallop Redpath.

Graham Mullen enjoyed four legs under 20 darts, a 111 checkout and 12 scores of 100 or more as he stormed to a rousing 5-0 win against Alan Smith.

Southwick’s Paul Williams also showed his class, proving too strong for Spiller Henderson, with a fine 15-dart leg and two 16-darters backed by a 180 and 11 scores of 100-plus.

Tyne and Wear County player Dave Thompson shared the spoils with ex-Durham County man Jimmy Ashett in an epic 4-4 draw.

Both players put on a great display. Thompson’s highlights were three legs under 20 darts, 12 scores of 100-plus and a 180, while Ashett had 15 tons or better and three legs in 20 or fewer.

Table-topping Kevin Guy had five legs in fewer than 20 on his way to a 5-2 victory over Ray Malarkey, as well as 14 scores of 100-plus. Malarkey pushed Guy all the way, helped by a 180.

Neil Richardson failed to build on his shock win over Paul Williams, going down 5-1 to Paul “Birdy song” Gillibrand, who turned in a tremendous display to hit a 180 and 10 scores of 100-plus.

Barry Rutherford had a 180 in his 5-1 beating from Steve Skinner, while Anth Skelton defeated his Monday darts team captain Martin Price 5-3.

Phil Dunn made it back to back victories, overcoming Anth Gale 5-2, including a brilliant 107 checkout.
