Wearside League: Six of the best for classy Ashbrooke Belford House

The Colliers faced an uphill battle once they conceded three times in the opening 25 minutes as Adam Drysdale, Callum Hope and Liam Laidler netted.

It wasn’t any better for Horden after the break either. Dominic Laws added a fourth goal, Ashbrooke went nap through Hope and, just before the end, Corey Steel completed a great night for the Wearsiders.

Sunderland West End put pressure on the leading pack with a 3-1 home win over Silksworth CW, who started the night in second place.

David Keithley opened the scoring for West End on 35 minutes, volleying home in a goalmouth scramble.

A minute into the second half, Keithley scored again when he lobbed goalkeeper Jonathan Williamson from 30 yards. In the 70th minute, a cross from the right was collected by Kieran Martin, who rounded the keeper and scored from an acute angle to make it 3-0.

Silksworth grabbed a consolation goal 10 minutes from time after a foul in the box. Rob Hall stepped up and sent keeper Chris Smith the wrong way from the spot.

Seaham Red Star Reserves suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Prudhoe Town, who won for only the first time in seven attempts.

Aaron Fletcher scrambled the ball into the net after half an hour and, on the hour mark, Seaham’s hopes wilted as Kosta Sada turned his defender and fired wide of goalkeeper Aiden Vout.

Boldon CA have made a good start and the momentum was maintained at the expense of Windscale.

Shaun Carroll, Aaron Williams, Adam Bell and Dominic Mossa all beat the Cumbrians goalkeeper James Dolan in a 4-0 romp.

Leaders Jarrow, who had won five and drawn one of their first six games, managed only a 1-1 draw at Annfield Plain, a much-improved team this season.

Ross McAuley gave the South Tynesiders the lead, but, right on half-time, Kai Hewitson beat goalkeeper Jak Wells for the equaliser.

Coxhoe Athletic were in third spot before kick-off but succumbed to Richmond Town, who roared into a three-goal lead courtesy of Scott Ryan (2) and Sam Grainger.

They were handed a lifeline on 70 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, which Ross Morrow dispatched wide of goalkeeper Carl Latcham.

There was more doom and gloom for Latcham when he was shown a straight red card, but Richmond comfortably held on to win 3-1.

Wolviston remain rooted to the bottom of the table and have so far claimed just one point from a possible 18.

Their latest defeat, 3-1, was at the hands of Leam Rangers, whose marksmen were Liam McVicar (2) and Brodie Simpson. Nathan Bayes had given Wolviston the lead.

Harton and Westoe are now second-bottom, equal on points with Wolviston after a 5-2 defeat to South Shields Reserves.

Andy Hall and Shaun Edwards had Harton two up in 15 minutes. But the Mariners hit five goals in the final 22 minutes, thanks to Wayne Phillips, Warren Byrne (3) and Gary Cooper.

Redcar Athletic are expected to make a determined bid for promotion but they had to settle for a point at Hartlepool.

Jamie Tumilty fired Pool in front but two goals in six minutes from Sam Webster and Chris Atkinson turned the tables. Matty Gardiner volleyed a late, late Pool leveller.
