Wearside League: Silksworth look to complete quickfire double against table-toppers Jarrow

The Wearsiders have won nine games already this season and go north on the back of an impressive 4-1 Monkwearmouth Cup success against Jarrow.

Manager Andrew Stobbart said: “It will be another hard task to topple the league leaders, but we are in good form at the moment and hopefully we will get a result.”

Definitely out is Daley Clarke, who is injured, and Rob Hall misses out through holiday, but Harry Munday and Andrew Donnelly are both available for selection.

Secretary David Steele said: “Last week’s win was a great team effort and shows the effort that’s been put in by the management team.”

Jarrow are without Darren Morton and Grant Pressling, but welcome back Kris Allen – who came through 45 minutes against a Sunderland XI in a midweek friendly – and add new addition Jonny Hirst to the squad.

Jarrow boss Dave Bell said: “Silksworth are a really good team and have many strengths. We need to perform much better than we did last week against them – we were nowhere near our best.

“That needs to change on Saturday and we know what it is we need to do. Chris Hutchinson and myself have an excellent squad of lads available, but we need perform at a consistent standard and not let that drop again.”

Seaham Red Star Reserves have Mark Ruddick and Paul Henderson returning for the trip south to Wolviston, after missing the last three matches.

Michael Bulmer scored in midweek after his one-match ban and he will again be a key man.

New signings David Baker and Liam Appleby could both make the starting line-up following impressive substitute appearances and Brennan Ball and Andy Johnson will look to build on their midweek starts.

Jonny Hodgson and Shaun Fletcher are still out with long-term injuries, while sweeper Luke Bennington, who is returning offshore to work, is another absentee.

Wolviston miss injured keeper Jon McLone, so Chris Davidson will again deputise.

Utility player Nathan Summersgill and striker Nathan Bayes are available again.

Harton & Westoe CW are looking up after their welcome first win of the season on Wednesday.

Tomorrow, they entertain Hartlepool, who have the Gordon brothers (Cameron and Euan) returning alongside Luke Naylor, Alex Marshall, Paul Moss, Rob Hammond and John Stephenson.

Harton will have a strong squad available, however, they have lost David Halliday and Josh Rodgers to Bedlington and Dale Wells to Ashbrooke Belford House.

Harton’s Kevin Gibson said: “Having picked up striker Brodie Simpson from Boldon and we have Wes Brown back in the squad and things are generally on the up and the mood in the camp is very positive.”

Prudhoe Town host Cleator Moor Celtic, whose secretary, Herbert Briggs, said: “We will be looking for the three points. It’s about time we pushed up that league. If we don’t get the points, we won’t get to the top!”
