Wearside League: Red Star Reserves revel in five-goal derby romp

Ashbrooke Belford House slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Jarrow. Grant Pressling scored in the fourth minute and, on the stroke of half-time, Peter Kane doubled the lead.

Andrew Barclay netted twice in the eight minutes late on to seal Belford’s fate.

Stockton Town took another step towards the championship, and promotion to the Ebac Northern League Second Division, when they outgunned Spennymoor Town Reserves 4-0.

Adam Nicholson, Matthew Garbutt, Sonni Coleman and Joe Scaithe-Wheatley did the damage, giving Stockton an eight-point lead over Redcar Athletic, with two games in hand.

Redcar’s title hopes were hit by a 2-1 loss to Cleator Moor Celtic, for whom Leigh Dunn and Daryl Little responded to Michael Woodhouse’s opener for the Seasiders.

Liam Henderson (2), Sam Mannion and Kieran Russell extended Prudhoe Town’s late-season run of victories, beating Hartlepool 4-1.
