Wearside League: Bulmer treble treat sparks cup romp for Seaham Red Star Reserves

Seaham Red Star Reserves progressed in impressive fashion when they easily saw off visitors Annfield Plain with one of the best performances of the afternoon.

From the kick-off, Star dominated and raced into a four-goal lead thanks to Michael Bulmer and Michael Connelly, who both scored twice.

Kai Hewitson then claimed a consolation for the Plain, but the visitors’ joy was shortlived as Bulmer, a key man in Oddies’ Durham Alliance Combination League title triumph last term, completed a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory.

Silksworth CW’s attack was also on song.

Carl Burns was an early marksman, but it was not until past the hour mark that Harton and Westoe’s defence wilted, allowing Will Cook, James Cook and Stephen Moody to complete a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

After trailing by two goals and then leading 3-2, Horden CW bowed out at the hands of Leam Rangers, whose early scorers were Robbie Robson and Brodie Simpson.

The Colliers turned the tables, with David Wilson (2) and Keiran Voss giving their side the lead, but Leam stormed back, scoring three times in the final 20 minutes when Alan Mulholland, Liam McVicker and Robbie Robson all beat goalkeeper Bailey Hagan.

Coxhoe Athletic made it four wins on the bounce when they beat visitors Prudhoe Town 5-2.

It wasn’t all plain sailing however. Kosta Sada gave Prudhoe the advantage before Kyle Morris (2) and Chris Foster netted for Coxhoe.

Prudhoe’s Steve Foster reduced the deficit to a single goal and, at 3-2, it was anyone’s game, but Morris completed his hat-trick and, in added time, Robert Thompson was also on the mark.

Jarrow led Richmond Town 3-2 at one stage but ended as the losing side.

Scott Ryan struck early for Richmond Town before strikes by Kai Elliott and Stephen Graham (2) had the visitors well on top.

Before the interval, Colin Anderson pulled a goal back for Richmond and, in the second period, Michael Elliott, Scott Ryan and Colin Anderson cemented a 5-3 win.

Boldon CA conceded a second-minute lead to Hartlepool’s Shaun Graham but quickly took control of their tie.

Kevin Calon-Lloyd levelled and, after the break, further goals by Daniel Nolan (2) and Cameron Foster earned Paul Mossa’s a comfortable 4-1 success.

Redcar Athletic scored three times in the opening seven minutes through Chris Bivens (2) and Sam Webster.

Although South Shields Reserves responded with a fantastic strike by Dominic Soulsby, the Mariners went out.

Stokesley SC lost at home to Wolviston, whose matchwinner in extra time was Nathan Bayes.

Stokesley led thanks to Ryan Rivis for half an hour until Carl Barry levelled on 74 minutes.
