Tottenham midfielder Giovani Dos Santos has failed to secure a return to Spanish football after a potential move to Villarreal collapsed, writes Padraig Whelan.
The Mexican international had also been linked with a move to the MLS or Russia, but appears set to stay at White Hart Lane.
“He had offers from Russia and the United States but he told them he is not going to play there,” said Dos Santos’s agent, Vicente Montes. “As things stand, Giovani will stay at Spurs.”
The 22-year-old turned down a move to Italian club Udinese last summer in favour of a return to La Liga following loan spells as Ipswich Town and Racing Santander.
