TONY Pulis is the early favourite to succeed Alan Pardew as manager of Newcastle United.

Pardew is on the brink of becoming Crystal Palace’s new manager, and former Stoke City manager Pulis is the 4/1 favourite with bookmakers.

Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini, Hull City boss Steve Bruce and Ajax manager Frank de Boer are also in the running.

Pulis and Bruce, a boyhood United fan, are reportedly interested in taking over at St James’s Park.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley would not have to pay any compensation to hire Pulis, who has been out of work since leaving Palace in the summer.
