But mighty Park View rallied their troops for an amazing comeback, with Jordon Southern and two-goal Reece Benson sealing a much-needed 3-2 victory. Thomas Jones starred for View, David Atkinson for Westmount.

The Park proved their class as they outgunned joint second-top Millfield Oddies, smashing nine goals past hapless keeper Daniel Cullen.

Lewis Fairley (2), Daniel Pattison (2), star man Ryan McCollin (3), Tony Hodgson and Joshua Johnstone scored, with Michael Elliott and Dylan Jardin replying in vain.

Grange Park stayed three points clear at the top after a 6-0 whipping of Millfield Free Gardeners. Gaz Harding and Shaun Fisk hit doubles, then Nathan Crighton and Nathan Groom finished the scoring. Callum Hutchinson stood out for Gardeners.

Lee Patton and Josh Wilde sent The Dolphin plummeting to second-bottom spot they gave Ryhope New Railway a close 2-1 win.

Sam Thompson starred with a great display in defence for the hosts, with Chris Wilkin best for Dolphin, whose scorer was Jon Bradley.

Ben Stokoe capped a fine debut for Silksworth Catholic Club with a man-of-the-match performance in a 2-0 success at Penshaw Catholic Club.

Darren Davie and Ian Donkon hit the goals to knock Penshaw down, with Dom O’Neil outstanding in goal to keep the score down.

Wear United extended their unbeaten run to four games with an easy 3-0 success against basement boys Railway Tavern.

Michael Smith, a candidate for manager of the year, inspired his side. Richie Morton opened the scoring, then Sam Wade doubled United’s advantage with a well-taken penalty which found the bottom right corner.

Mark Doleman hit a daisy cutter to make it three, but the highlight was trendsetter James Weldon, who turned up sporting a special pink hair band. Mark Mason starred for Railway.

Thorney Close Inn dug deep to earn an important 2-1 First Division success at fellow strugglers Redhouse Last Orders.

Michael Noble produced a captain’s display to drag Thorney to victory.

Keeper Kevin McCluskey couldn’t do anything as goals from Danny Makin and Aaron Forrest gave Thorney a 2-0 lead. Marc McNulty replied late on, while brother Neil earned his stripes with a great performance in vain for Redhouse.

Hendon moved back into second place thanks to a 6-4 win over Board Inn.

Keith Reay hit two for Hendon, but Micky Wharton’s brace made it all square.

Hendon came out on top in the second half when Paul Taylor, David Redman, Martin Deacon and David Newby ran riot. Matty Harrison and Jamie Carmody responded, but Hendon held on.

The Royal Marine were too good for luckless Oddies as the 4-0 scoreline suggests. Man of the match Aidan Raeburn (2), Michael Berry and Peter Marshall netted. Darren Green shone for Oddies.

Ryhope Top House convincingly beat bottom club Willow Pond 5-0.

Josh Winthrop bagged a hat-trick and Paul Brooke claimed a double, with Carl Young starring. Andrew Smith was the pick for Willow.

Hylton Castle TWR moved top of the Premier Division thanks to a 2-0 win ay Ryhope Foresters. Callum Hodgson and star man Cam Hunter scored past Chris Sproat in the Ryhope goal. Kieran Davies shone in vain for Foresters.

Last midweek, Foresters lost 5-1 to RCA Grangetown Florists, with Anthony Young replying to strikes from man of the match Rob Hall, Andy Place, John Turvey and David Rush (2).
