Sunderland Sunday League: Silksworth Catholic Club off to a flier as Davie and Pattison fired hat-tricks on opening day

Darren Davie and Daniel Pattison both grabbed hat-tricks, then Brent Brooke and Edward Wood finished the rout. Sluggish Dolphin had Jon Wardle (2) and Karl Hodgson on target.

New boys Grange Park ran out convincing 7-2 winners over The Park.

Man of the match Shaun Fisk hit a treble, backed by Rob Burnell (2) and brothers Liam and Ryan Grimes. Aiden King replied with a double, with Brad Wilson star man for The Park.

Park View played out of their skin to grab three precious points, which were hard to come by last season.

Daniel Nkemjika, Robert Robson, David Brown, Reece Benson (2) and Jack Callaghan secured a 6-1 win at Railway Tavern, with Lewis Forrest responding.

Thomas Jones stood out for View, with Chris Cooke best for Railway.

Michael Mather (2), Howell and Padget struck for TC in a 4-4 draw with Penshaw CC. Kristofer Kane, James Barrass and a double from star man Andrew Hayden earned Penshaw a point.

Matthew McKenzie was TC’s top performer.

Mason Green, Lee Patton and Paul Jackson were Ryhope New Railway’s heroes, rescuing a point after trailing 3-0 to Westmount, who were kicking themselves after losing an impressive lead.

Title favourites Millfield Oddies suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at Wearmouth CW Juniors.

Richard Lee’s goal and two fine efforts from Craig Williams did the damaage, while Ganley replied with a bullet header.

A single Callum Hutchinson goal was all it took for Millfield Free Gardeners to overcome plucky Wear United. Matty Ayre shone for Gardeners, with Sam Wade star man for United.

SR Dons earned a hard-fought win over reigning champions Farrindon ISL on the first day of the Premier Division season.

Michael Laws and Craig Watson scored the decisive goals, with Page replying.

George McCain’s brace had Silksworth Paragon cruising against new boys O’Brien Waste Recycling.

But the hosts kept battling and O’Neill replied before Gash Brazier volleyed home from three yards in the dying seconds to grab a 2-2 draw.

Hylton Castle TWR started with a convincing 6-2 win over The Ashbrooke.

Southwick have risen like a phoenix from the flames after they were on the brink of extinction within hours of the league starting.
