Sunderland Sunday League: Lansdowne crowned champions as Jukes seals the deal

Tom Smith’s The Lansdowne were crowned Third Division champions after their impressive win over Washington Colliery.

They ran out 4-2 winners courtesy of a brace from Rhys Jukes, with Kristian Tyson and Matty Frost also on the scoresheet.

Washington replied with efforts from Ashley Neville and Adam Rowntree.

Ashbrooke Sports Club cemeted their runners-up spot with a close 2-1 win over the lowly Lakeside SSC lads.

The Ashbrooke still have five games in hand and are already sitting pretty in second spot.

Michael Brown scored a brace to give them the points and Chris Hunter got star man. Lakeside had Mark Barrass on target with a great finish.

Mill View CIU sought revenge after an earlier defeat to the hands of Mountain Daisy F&M Underdogs in controversial fashion – and they got it with a 7-4 triumph.

Steven Conlin fired a treble and further goals from Srephen Lewis, Liam Huntrod, David Raeper and Michael Donkin earned Mill View the win.

Daisy did give it a go and Addzy McQuillan hit a hat-trick himself, with Chris Kershaw also netting.

Earlier, Reece Cummings gave Washington Colliery an early lead at Board Inn and they held on until the last 20 minutes. Board brought on Liam Houghton and he repaid his gaffer’s faith by firing a double to seal a smash and grab 2-1 win.

TC Plastics bounced back to winning ways, recording another convincing win, 7-1 against TC, and were crowned as champions of Division Two as a result.

Stoker, Robson, Powell, Canavan, Luke Bell and two from Corey Bell did the damage, while McLaren replied for the visitors.

Steel scored two goals, followed by efforts from Antliff and Thubron, to give The Stumble Inn a 4-1 win over the Free Gardeners Arms. Kieran Fleming grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.

It was left to Brad Foster again to come off the bench for New Town to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Washington New Tavern.

New Tavern were cruising after Chris Grier and Craig Neal found the net. Kieran Russell pulled a goal back, and Foster equalised late in the second half for New Town.

Earlier, Ryhope Railway Inn recorded an easy 6-0 win over the hapless Dolphin.

Dean Machin hit the first two goals to send them on the way and further goals from McConville, Rowlands, Watt and Whelam sealed the win.

The Stumble Inn tossed a spanner in the works for TC Plastics, who suffered their first league defeat. John Thubron hit the all-important goal to shock Farquhar’s lads.

A Paul “Webber” Webster brace guided Jolly Potters home 4-0 at Victory Club to boost their bid to be runners-up. Gary Baker and Lewis Dodd also notched.

Jolly Potters also won this midweek, cruising to a 5-1 win at Free Gardeners Arms, with Webster firing a hat-trick backed by strikes from Lewis Dodd and Gary Baker.

Craig Gordon notched for Gardeners, with Glenn Lister their man of the match.

Hendon lost 4-0 to Stumble Inn but later beat TC 4-1.
