Sunderland Sunday League: Conlin the last-gasp two goal hero as Mill View rock Penshaw

Penshaw were cruising early in the first half, as Bignall and Kane had them in front. Mill View struck back as Donkin nodded home, then, early in the second half, Steven Lewis poked home in a goalmouth scramble to level.

Penshaw hit back and McGhee fired past Colling for a 3-2 lead, only for, in the last minute, Mill View to strike twice to take all three points, club legend Stephen Conlin the hero with two great strikes.

Martin Telfer Carpets reached the dizzying heights of second place in Division Two after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Washington Colliery.

They had Knight and Steel on target, with Reece Cummings scoring a late consolation goal after great play from Rowntree.

Sunderland Railway Club were on top from the off in a 3-1 win at Lakeside SSC.

Brad Timm started things after receiving a great ball in the box and, with a great touch, chipping the keeper with a goal reminiscent of his big brother Richie’s goal the previous week.

Lakeside equalised from a very weak free-kick given away at on the edge of their box, with Ian Usher rifling an unstoppable shot into the top left corner.

Railway’s Ross Taylor played an excellent through ball to John Brannen, who flicked it around the the keeper with the outside of his boot to put them back in front.

Lakeside had a couple of great chances to level and Railway clinched victory whn Brannen fired home from a very tight angle after a one-two with Ross Taylor from a corner.

Ashbrooke Sports Club regained winning ways as they beat a tricky Board Inn side 5-1.

Jordan Ridley hit a hat-trick, with Collinson and Dixon clinching the win. Star man Jordan Dagg grabbed Board’s repkly.

It was more of the same from the impressive Lansdowne side as the hammered hapless Mountain Daisy F&M Underdogs 7-1.

Their forward line was in devastating form, with four-goal Rhys Jukes and Kristian Tyson, who bagged a hat-trick, on top form. Man of the match Jay Martin had a hand in most of the goals.

The basement boys had Chris Kershaw on target and Jamie Giles impressed.

Jolly Potters are hot on the heels of TC Plastics and another good win, 4-1 against Washington New Tavern, saw them claim second place in Division Two.

Ryan Bussey hit two, followed by Paul Webster’s usual goal. Mark Wallis netted for New Tavern, but the Potters were on top form and a further goal from Adam Ridley sealed the win.

TC Plastics recorded their 10th league win, beating New Town 3-0, and remain unbeaten in all competitions.

Stephenson, Luke Bell and Alan Bake scored, with Charlie Salicki shining for New Town.

The Stumble Inn and The Dolphin produced an entertaining game, but the defences let them down in a 3-3 draw.

The Dolphin had Sheriff and two-goal Chris Wilkin on target. Stumble Inn led on three separate occasions, but couldn’t keep their opponents at bay.

Keeper Darren Brown starred for Dolphin.

Hendon called on their management to take to the field and Keith English returned the favour, firing a double in a 3-0 success at AFC Wearside.

Andrew Hunter rounded off the scoring with a great finish, with Scott Young named Hendon’s star man,

Ryhope Railway Inn enjoyed a convincing display as they hammered TC 7-0. Craig Whelan grabbed a hat-trick, with Machin, Cole, McConville and Rowlands also netting. Keeper Anthony Gair was TC’s star man.

Jackson, Calvert and Davison gave Victory Club an easy 3-0 win over the Free Gardeners Arms, whose man of the match was Mark Lister.
