SUNDERLAND have been fined £20,000 by the Football Association for failing to control their players during the 1-1 draw against Everton earlier this month.

The club admitted a misconduct charge, which related to the reaction of Gus Poyet’s players to the decision of referee Lee Mason to award a penalty against them.

Mason adudged Connor Wickham to have brought down Seamus Coleman in the box in the 76th minute, and Leighton Baines equalised from the penalty spot.

Sebastian Larsson had earlier given Sunderland the lead at the Stadium of Light.
