Seaham set off at a tremendous pace and Holt put them in front after a defensive misunderstanding.

Turner doubled the lead before the break, but Grindon dominated the second half and levelled thanks to David Taylor’s left-footed rocket and a Paul Griffith’s strike.

Griffith soon fired Grindon ahead with a 25-yard free-kick, though Taylor quickly made it 3-3.

Griffith, though, had the last word, completing his hat-trick to clinch a memorable win for Broadway.

Hylton CW enjoyed a brilliant 2-1 win over leaders Hartlepool Gillen Arms to boost their promotion charge.

Karl Saxby finished off Lee Cotton’s pass to put CIU ahead, but injury forced Scott Burns into goal, with keeper James Atkinson going outfield.

It proved be a master stroke when, following a lovely ball from Anthony Banks, Atkinson smashed home for 2-0.

Mid-table Willow Pond produced a brilliant performance to hold unbeaten promotion favourites Newcastle East End to a goalless draw in Division Three.

East End could not break down a resolute home team whose endeavour was commendable all over the pitch in an end to end epic.

Willow’s back four of John Forster, Ronald Bulmer, Andy Norman and Stu Hope were exceptional in dealing well with East End’s probing attacks, with keeper John Davis in outstanding form behind them.

East End thought the ball had crossed the line to give them the lead after a shot from Terry Blackford was saved at full stretch by Davis, who was behind the line. Their claims for a goal were waved away.

David Kelly tormented East End in the second half, but visiting keeper John Witherspoon was equal to any shot on goal.

Willow carved out the better chances as both sides went for the win, with another jinking Kelly run setting up Gary Golightly, but his shot easily saved .

Kelly then beat the keeper with a low shot that ricocheted to safety off the post.

Willow clinched their point in the dying minutes when Witherspoon saved an effort from the unmarked Paul Bright.
