Storey recently claimed to have launched a second takeover bid for Sunderland on November 19 – which he said is ‘by far the biggest offer’ received by the club’s current owners.

Storey posted an image to Twitter on November 18, with a document claiming to be a part of the EFL's Owners and Directors Test.

The Rich Energy founder has been vocal throughout the entirety of Sunderland’s takeover process, despite claiming to have signed a non-disclosure agreement.

But Stewart Donald looks set to sell a majority stake in the club to a consortium including Juan Sartori and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, which would see the duo take a reported shareholding of 79 per cent in the Black Cats.

However, that hasn’t stopped Storey continuing his social media campaign following manager Phil Parkinson’s dismissal on Sunday night.

“I know Phil Parkinson was unpopular with lots of fans but any manager can only work with the resources at his disposal,” Storey tweeted in the aftermath of the sacking.

"Selling academy players & a tiny budget didn't make it easy for him!

“He is a decent person. Best of luck Phil #Sunderland #Manager #SAFC.”

The hunt for a new Sunderland boss is ongoing.
