This is why Sunderland's trip to Tranmere Rovers could be subject to a late change of date

Sunderland’s trip to Tranmere Rovers on January 28 could be pushed back by 24 hours – dependent on the Merseysiders’ progression in the FA Cup.

Tranmere could face either Wolves or Manchester United in the fourth round of the competition – but still have the small matter of a replay with Premier League Watford to contend with.

But, if Micky Mellon’s side can find their way past the Hornets in their replay (date TBC), then their clash with the Black Cats will be pushed back.

“The League One match against the Black Cats is currently scheduled to take place on Tuesday 28th January.”
