Why Sunderland are facing a race against the clock to seal new signings before Wycombe Wanderers
Sunderland face a race against the clock if they are to secure new signings ahead of the visit of Wycombe Wanderers.
Phil Parkinson has confirmed that the Black Cats are ‘closing in’ on new faces - having revealed his interest in a pair of strikers.
But the club will need to finalise deals quickly if they want to be included in the squad against table-topping Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
EFL rules stipulate that all paperwork relating to a transfer must be submitted to and approved by the governing body by “12.00 noon on the day prior to the date of such match”
That means that Sunderland have until midday today to secure any new signings - otherwise they won’t be able to feature until the trip to MK Dons on Saturday, January 18.
Parkinson is believed to be targeting up to five new additions during this window.
