On a cold and windy afternoon, the Black Cats came from behind to beat the Gas at the Stadium of Light, keeping up the pressure on their promotion rivals.

And while many Sunderland fans weren't convinced by the performance, most were only concerned about the result.

Here's how some supporters reacted on social media:

@_dgallagher99: Big win that given our recent results. Ideal timing heading into the busy Christmas/New Year schedule starting with Portsmouth next week!

@sportmad72: Couldn’t give a hoot about this performance rubbish. Win ugly sign of a good side. We’re in League one for a reason we are not Barcelona. These players will make mistakes like today but we got the points. Move on to Pompey #SAFC

@SAFC_NYorkshire: Phew! Good to see Duncan back. Five points behind Portsmouth with two games in hand... #SAFC

@bensoncolin2010: If you win despite a poor team performance then it’s a good sign. Also it will give additional motivation for Pompey away next weekend. I’ll happily win ugly next week. Fingers crossed our keeper is ok

@BlackcatsLee25: Win our games in hand and we go top...yet still not convinced by us in general. Always make it hard for ourselves. Maja mind, finishing is lethal

@KennaSAFC: Fair play to #BRFC played well today, probably should/could have taken a point. We played poorly but happy to win!

@76skelly: Typical Sunderland performance. Could have been out if sight but also could have threw points away #SAFC

@thomasscotttt: Honeyman again was outstanding tracking back and running forward.

@Ph65PauloDingle: Portsmouth drew so it’s a good day

@ian_safc_1974: Performances don’t get you points. Wins all that matters and that team seems to have heart to get them
