Former Sunderland defender Jonny Evans is a major doubt to face the Black Cats in this weekend’s crunch clash at West Brom.

Evans - who joined the Baggies in an £8million deal during the summer - missed both of Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifiers with a hamstring injury and is facing a battle to be fit for Saturday’s clash, as Sam Allardyce begins his Sunderland reign against the team lying fourth bottom in the table.

Fellow centre-half Jonas Olsson is also a doubt due to a groin injury, while ex-Middlesbrough midfielder James Morrison is struggling with an ankle problem.

To add to Tony Pulis’ headache, ex-Sunderland Player of the Year Stephane Sessegnon, along with £12million record signing Salomon Rondon, will not arrive back until the end of the week due to their international commitments.
