Liverpool are set to confirm the signing of Sporting Lisbon youngster Joao Carlos Teixeira in the next couple of days after Kenny Dalglish confirmed the Reds interest.
Teixeira, dubbed ‘the next Deco’, is widely regarded as a hit-prospect in the footballing world and Dalglish has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in the young play maker.
He told Liverpool’s official website: ”There might be something about that, yes.
“If we’ve something to say we’ll tell you but I think there might be something on that.”
The 19-year-old starred in the next-gen series at Anfield earlier in the season, scoring the opener as Sporting beat Liverpool 3-0.
It is believed that the Liverpool hierarchy were impressed with Teixeira and are set to sign him for a reported £1million.
Meanwhile Dalglish has hinted that Liverpool’s transfer policy this window will be to focus on bringing in the top youngsters from around the world to join their academy.
He said: “We’re expecting a quiet window. The Academy aren’t, but we are.”
Liverpool have already snapped up the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jordan Ibe and now it looks like Teixeira will be joining as well.
