SUNDERLAND striker Ji Dong-won has rubbished reports that he is on his way to Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
There was speculation yesterday that Ji was heading to Germany in a £4million deal, despite Sunderland rejecting a similar offer earlier this summer.
But after reporting for international duty with South Korea, prior to friendlies against Haiti and Croatia, Ji insists he knows nothing about the rumours.
Ji said: “I am not joining Hamburger SV.
“I only found out about the report after arriving home. I just played a game and flew here.”
Di Canio insisted last week that Ji has an important part to play at Sunderland this season after the Black Cats rejected interest from Germany during the summer.
And with Jozy Altidore ruled out through injury, Ji made his first Premier League start since May 2012 at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
But the 22-year-old was hauled off at the interval by Di Canio, who criticised the striker afterwards.
