Sunderland have made a loan move for Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson, according to reports today.
Speculation suggests Sunderland have made a £2million loan offer to the Gunners to take Jenkinson on a season-long stint and cover the England Under-21 international’s wages for the campaign.
Jenkinson is understood to be a player who has previously been on Sunderland’s radar and the Black Cats are in the market for at least one full-back this summer.
The departure of out-of-contract Anthony Reveillere has left Dick Advocaat with just two specialist full-backs - Billy Jones and Patrick van Aanholt.
However, Sunderland would face fierce competition from West Ham, who signed Jenkinson on loan last season and are keen to keep hold of him.
Arsenal do not want to sell the 23-year-old, but after he impressed at Upton Park last season, there are no shortage of suitors to take the ex-Charlton man on loan again.
