MANCHESTER United are looking for a £5million loan fee for Sunderland target Danny Welbeck, according to reports today.

Despite the loan arrival of attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez expected to be confirmed by Sunderland today, the Black Cats could still be in the market for a forward if - as expected - they miss out on main target Fabio Borini.

Welbeck, who spent the 2010-11 campaign at the Stadium of Light, is a player who would interest Poyet if he was available on loan, albeit Sunderland would not be able to match the £15m asking price to buy the England international permanently.

But reports today indicated that United want a £5m payment to let Welbeck leave on loan, with Spurs and Arsenal also mooted to be interested in the 23-year-old.
