FORMER Sunderland winger Allan Johnston is poised to be confirmed as the new Kilmarnock manager.

Johnston has proved a success in the dug-out at Scottish outfit Queen of the South after leading the Doonhamers to the Second Division title and Scottish Challenge Cup glory last season.

That has prompted SPL side Kilmarnock to make a move for Johnston as a replacement for previous boss Kenny Shiels, who was sacked earlier this month.

Reports suggest Johnston could be confirmed as Kilmarnock boss as early as today, with the 39-year-old expected to pen a two-year deal.
