Chelsea appear set to be one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window, with manager Andre Villas-Boas looking to keep his side in the title race by overhauling his ageing Chelsea squad.

Villas-Boas was swift to quash rumours that the club were prepared to take a £30million loss on Fernando Torres. The Spaniard has failed to recreate the form he showed in his Liverpool days, but the Chelsea manager insists that the club’s record signing is going nowhere.

“It’s not true, he is not available at any price,” said the Portuguese.

“We are pretty sure when Fernando is called up he will respond with the quality and talent he has. We have to make the best decisions for the team.”

However, with Nicolas Anelka having already sealed a move to Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, more big names could be on the way out of Stamford Bridge.

Florent Malouda looks all but certain to leave the club, after telling Villas-Boas he is not happy with the amount of playing time he is receiving.

“My playing time cannot satisfy me. It’s too small compared to the ambitions I have and so, if necessary, I will go,” he told Canal+.

One club linked with Malouda is mega-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, however the former Lyon man debunked these rumours by announcing that he could not even pronounce the team’s name.

And whilst there may be many players leaving Stamford Bridge, the club are certainly looking to bring in fresh blood, with owner Roman Abramovich allegedly promising Villas-Boas a £150million warchest, in a bid to wrestle the title back from Manchester United, and finally secure their elusive first Champions League trophy.

The former champions have been linked with a host of household names, including Real Madrid duo Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain. Bolton and England defender Gary Cahill also looks set to join the Blue revolution, with reports suggesting that a deal is all but signed to bring the player to Stamford Bridge, with the fee believed to be around £7million.

Another player who could be on his way to the West London club is Brazilian star Hulk. The Porto star played under Villas-Boas at Porto last season, and the player’s agent Thedoro Fonesca has indicated that he is keen to link up once more with his former manager.

Fonesca told A Bola: “Hulk would wholeheartedly agree to work with Andre at Porto or Chelsea or at any other team, because he really likes the way he coaches.

“Andre knows Hulk very well and they have a very good relationship.”

One thing is for certain, it looks set to be a very interesting month ahead for fans of the two London giants.
