SUNDERLAND full-back Michael Liddle has agreed to extend his loan deal at Conference Premier side Gateshead until the end of the season.
The young Irish full back has been ever present in the Tynesider’s side since arriving at the start of the transfer window with Ian Bogie’s first choice left back Paul Heckingbottom absent with injuries.
And manager Ian Bogie admitted he was delighted to secure the deal which will keep the Ireland Under-21 International at the club after Liddle’s impressive first month on Tyneside.
Bogie said: “We have been able to secure a loan deal with Sunderland which will see Michael stay at the club until the end of the season.
“He (Liddle) has been a key player for us in recent week’s along with James Tavernier and Joan Simun Edmundsson in lifting the club since their arrival.
“It is a big lift for everyone at the club and we are delighted to have secured his extension.”
Liddle has so far netted two goals in five games for The Heed, scoring on his debut against Kiddersminster Harriers and infront of almost 6,000 fans at Kenilworth Road against Luton Town.
